Main Sequence Ventures was formed in 2017 to manage the CSIRO Innovation Fund, which was established with $70 million from the Australian Government and $30 million of WiFi revenue from Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO.

CSIRO created the Fund to address the ‘valley of death’ between research and commercialisation – solving the world’s greatest challenges by turning our scientific breakthroughs into next century’s giants. The first CSIRO Innovation Fund managed by Main Sequence has invested in 26 companies since establishment in 2017. These companies have created 550 jobs by working with partners in industry, CSIRO, and 16 Australian universities.

It attracted $232 million investment in its first year, building on the initial $100 million investment with a further $132 million raised through private investment.

Our Kick-Start program is designed to support collaborative projects between CSIRO and your start-up/small company that will help grow your business.

A little bigger? Innovation Connections might be for you. For more established SMEs, we facilitate partnerships with researchers across Australia (including universities!) to ensure you have the right capabilities for your project.

AusIndustry in partnership with i4 Connect

In partnership with i4 Connect, AusIndustry’s Accelerating Commercialisation service provides small and medium businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers with access to expert advice and funding to help get a novel product, process or service to market. Accelerating Commercialisation includes:

• Commercialisation Guidance – guidance and assistance from one of i4 Connect’s expert Facilitators to develop the commercialisation potential of your novel product, process or service.
• Accelerating Commercialisation Grants – financial assistance of up to $1M in matched funding to help commercialise your novel product, process or service.
